I (heart) Jeffre Scott
Every now and then, I need someone to push my thinking. And Jeffre does just that. Just when I say, “Jeffre, I don’t do blush because of my rosacea” - he picks out the most perfect shade for me. When I say, “Jeffre, I don’t wear foundation, however, I do want a sheer, finished look for the holidays” - he slaps some Skin Alison Raffaele mineral foundation on my face, perfectly I might add. I went into his apothecary thinking navy blue eyes, and I left with the most beautiful shade of purple. Jeffre said, “you must have amber-colored lashes.” I told him I was quite content with my black mascara. Well, guess what - amber mascara is fabulous! The truth is, I love being challenged. It’s what keeps me stepping out of the cosmetics box!
We tend to get stuck in ruts. And although I experiment with make-up a lot, I admit that my thinking I am right, at times, prohibits new possibilities from happening. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Even if you are convinced it won’t work on you. You can achieve so many wonderful looks with a mix of cosmetics. And you don’t need a ton. You just need the right mix to concoct a dozen or so looks. For eye basics, you need an eye base, eye shadows (2 neutrals; 3-4 fabulous splashes of complimentary color; a highligher), eye liners (gel and pencils in brown, black, and a couple colors such as olive, navy or purple), and mascara. Face basics, you need foundation (only if you must), bronzer and/or blush. For lips, remember that opposites attract … dark eyes equal sheer lips (such as a neutral lipstick or gloss) and neutral eyes equals punchy lips (go red!).
Make today an adventure. Carve out a couple of hours for yourself just to play around with your make-up, assess what you have, and determine what new items may compliment your cosmetics bag. Now you are ready for a day at the office or an evening out on the town. And don’t be surprised when others notice!
